|
 |
A course aimed at challenging young people and adults through outdoor activities.
TST has joined forces with Duchy College to provide a unique course aimed at engaging young people
and adults onto an activity-led programme designed to build self confidence, promote team work
and develop inter-personal skills.
The Learning Skills Council funded course is designed for young people or adults who have left
education and not yet found employment. The course is to help them experience the thrill of
outdoor education and adventurous activities whilst also developing self confidence, team work,
interpersonal skills and self motivation.
On this flexible course students will undertake a series of challenges in different environments
to give them a clear insight into the working practices of the outdoor education and adventurous
activity sectors. Activities will include problem solving, orienteering, climbing, canoeing, etc.
The emphasis is on education that is both fun and practical. The aim is to develop both social and
practical skills which will help them on their future career path. The course gives the student a
taste of the wide variety of options available to them within these sectors.
While much of the course will involve participation in outdoor activities students will also
receive instruction in life skills, numeracy, literacy, health & safety and emergency first aid.
