We offer bespoke, individual educational packages to secondary school learners who may be struggling in the mainstream school environment.

Packages may include one or more of the following:

  • Core qualification in Construction, Land-Based Skills & Animal Care
  • Functional Skills (Maths & English)
  • Work Experience
  • Soft Skills e.g. emotional resilience, self-esteem, communication

Learners can be accommodated on any teacher: learner ratio e.g. small group, 1:1 or 2:1, and can be facilitated over 1 – 4 days a week.

The process of application is as follows:

  • School contacts Katie Connell, Head of Operations, to arrange a visit and tour of the college.
  • Email: katie@transferableskillstraining.com    Phone: 01579 384798
  • School completes the Student Referral Information Form and submits this to TST, along with any additional information (e.g. EHCP, Risk Assessment etc.)
  • A free taster day is booked, where the young person can attend for a half or whole day and experience college life.
  • We design a bespoke educational package (including costings) for the young person, based on the school’s requirements and the young person’s needs, considering the views of all parties involved (e.g. school, young person, parents/carers).
  • Final arrangements are made for teaching support, transport etc., and a start date is arranged.

Please note that all referrals MUST be made by the school where the learner is registered.

If the learner is not registered with a school a referral may be made by parents, carers, or professionals involved with the learner (e.g. social worker, CAMHS worker etc.).

We have a number of small grant programmes which an unregistered learner may be able to access. These are generally small numbers and places are highly sought after, so there may be a waiting list.
