Matrix Accreditation review
On October 18th we had our Matrix Accreditation review, which we are pleased to say we passed with flying colours. The full report is available as a PDF download, but here are a few comments from the assessor:
Performance data for 2016-17 demonstrates actual achievement as overall retention at 94.8% and overall achievement as 92.5% with 100% achievement for functional skills. The performance is excellent for any provider but particularly so in the context of the young people that TST supports.
There is no doubt that the student is at the heart of everything TST does
Students said the difference at TST is that staff care and understand them as individuals
Congratulations to our youngest member of staff, Leah Coulton, who has passed her BA(Hons) in Youth and Community Work with 2nd class honours. Leah came to work with us at TST nearly 2 years ago to gain some work experience, and has never left! She has been working and studying throughout that time so we are very proud of her achievement, and wish her every success in the future.
Our Graduation ceremony was held at The Devonport Guildhall yesterday, July 31st 2017. The guest of honour, Lord Mayor of Plymouth Wendy Foster, gave a lovely speech and then presented our graduates with their well-deserved certificates. The ceremony was followed by a cream tea, where the Lord Mayor, parents, staff, students and supporters had the opportunity to congratulate each other and talk about future plans.
All the staff at TST are immensely proud of our students, many of whom have overcome long-standing barriers to education to achieve these qualifications, and we wish them all every success in the future.
The Student of the Year award was given to two students this year, Matthew Stearn and Cody Le Vell, both of whom have overcome significant issues to achieve their qualifications. Matthew now has an apprenticeship with Cormack, and Cody is working full time at B&M with the aim of becoming a supervisor, and we know they will both go on to lead full and productive lives.
My Marathon Achievement
Well done to our Head of Education, Katie Connell, who recently raised £150 for the British Heart Foundation by running a marathon over the month of May through My Marathon
Students are currently taking their exams in Functional Skills
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE
