Tree Planting at Merryhue Farm

This week, our students were taking part in some bare-root tree planting along the Merryhue hedgerows. We planted 160 Hawthorns and Blackthorns. It was a great effort - just as great as the weather! Good job, all involved!

Students visit Homeleigh Garden Centre

Students visit Homeleigh Garden Centre

On Monday tutors from TST took three students to Homeleigh Garden Centre near Launceston. They are currently working on a selection of study units including getting about safely, eating out and gardening for pleasure. They certainly hit all of their assessment points and had a great time too. Well done lads!

Weather Warning - Jan 17th

Good morning,

Please be aware that ice and snow can be very dangerous, especially in the steep hills of Cornwall. Even though there is no snow on site at Merryhue Farm, please be aware of any potential ice patches on or around the site.

Please also get in contact if snow affects travel.

We hope you have had a positive start to 2023!

Regards,

The TST Team

End of Term - Site Closure

A big congratulations to the students as we come to the end of another term! It's been a very productive year, and we're hoping that everybody enjoys the Christmas holidays. We'll all be back in January, fresh and ready for another exciting year.

TST is now closed from today - Friday 9th December - and will reopen on Tuesday 3rd January. Please be aware that the offices will also be closed.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Breadmaking at Harewood Farm

Our students will often leave Merryhue Farm to conduct activities at different sites. These activities include fly fishing, litter picking, paddle-boarding...

This time, they were making sourdough bread! The results look delicious, and we're sure you'd agree.

Thank you to the staff at Harewood Farm for hosting our students. They really enjoyed the experience!

November Activities

November Activities

The students at TST have had a jam-packed couple of weeks at Merryhue Farm. They've taken advantage of the last of the warm weather by engaging in activities such as paddle-boarding, litter picking and setting up a tuck shop! Along with those, they've been completing the usual activities like construction, animal care and the examinations.

Of course, we just had Remembrance. The students joined with our Veterans in the top field to pay their respects to the fallen, and even created their own wreath using hand-shaped leaves, as shown in the picture attached.

We look forward to the next couple of months as we start to build up to the Christmas holidays!

Fly Fishing at Rose Park Fisheries

Our students took a trip to Rose Park Fisheries. At first, it didn't look like the fish were biting, but we caught one with the last catch of the day!

Site Closure for Her Majesty's Funeral - Monday 19th

Dear Parents, Guardians and Students,

Considering recent events and the announcement of a public holiday for the funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, we will not be opening on Monday 19th September, in line with DfE guidance.

This will allow individuals, businesses, and other organisations to pay their respects to Her Majesty and commemorate Her reign, while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.

We at TST will be holding a minute’s silence this coming Wednesday morning, giving us and our learners the opportunity to demonstrate our sadness and loss at the passing of the Queen.

May we remind you to cancel transport arrangements for the Monday.

College will be re-opening as normal on the 20th of September.

Yours sincerely

Mark Claridge

Head of Education
